How to Cook Nina's Dumplings 🥟
Our handmade dumplings are frozen and ready to cook. Follow these simple methods for the best results:
Pan-Frying (Potstickers)
- Add 1-2 tablespoons of neutral oil to a non-stick pan (recommended) or a well-seasoned pan before turning on the heat.
- Place frozen dumplings flat-side down in one layer, leaving space between each dumpling.
- Turn the heat to medium and cook for about 1 minute, until the bottoms begin to turn golden and crispy. You can lift one dumpling to check.
- Carefully pour in 50 ml water (shield your hand, as steam may splatter). The water will create steam to cook the filling while the bottoms continue to crisp to that signature crunch.
- Cover immediately with a lid and cook over medium heat for 6 minutes, until the water has evaporated and the dumplings are cooked through.
- Remove the lid and check the bottoms. If they are still light in color, continue cooking uncovered over medium heat for up to 1 minute to crisp them further.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Steaming
- Line your steamer basket with parchment paper (preferably with holes to allow steam through) or cabbage/Napa cabbage leaves.
- Place frozen dumplings in the steamer, leaving space between each dumpling.
- Steam over actively boiling water for 10 minutes, until the wrappers turn slightly translucent and the filling is hot throughout.
- Turn off the heat, carefully remove the dumplings from the steamer, and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
Boiling
- Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil.
- Gently add frozen dumplings and stir once to prevent sticking to the pot.
- When the water returns to a boil, add ½ cup cold water to calm the boil.
- Once the water comes back to a boil again, repeat adding ½ cup cold water.
- Repeat this process 2-3 times in total.
- Dumplings are ready when they float to the surface, the wrappers look slightly translucent, and the filling is fully cooked (similar to cooking ravioli).
- Remove with a slotted spoon and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
Storage Tips: Keep dumplings frozen in a sealed bag until ready to cook. Do not thaw before cooking. Enjoy immediately after cooking for best taste and texture.
